Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider vai a leilão no Concorso d’Eleganza Villa D’Este

Os anos 50 assinalaram uma era de grandes mudanças na marca do cavallino rampante, inspirados no sucesso do pequeno e ágil quatro cilindros de competição, introduziu a sua própria série de carros de corrida de quatro cilindro concebido por Aurelio Lampredi. Desses, os 500 Mondial de 2.0 litros tornaram-se alguns dos mais bem sucedidos em pista, e os modelos sobreviventes encontram-se bem cotados no mercado. Este 500 Mondial em particular é um dos 13 Pininfarina Spiders construídos, apresenta uma carroçaria que foi aplicada em apenas cinco exemplares deste automóvel de competição.
 
O chassis 0448 MD foi originalmente vendido em Novembro de 1954 a Antonio Parravano de Inglewood, Califórnia. Um homem de maieos consideráveis, embora um pouco duvidosos, Antonio estabeleceu a Scuderia Parravano e, nas mãos de pilotos profissionais como Bruce Kessler, Bob Drake e Pat O’Connor, fez uma campanha de sucesso com o 500 Mondial em inúmeros eventos na Califórnia.
Parravano vendeu o automóvel a uma amigo no início de 1957 e depois de ter problemas com o Internal Revenue Service em 1960 pagou a sua fiança e desapareceu do mundo das corridas e possivelmente até da Califórnia.
 
Grande parte dos automóveis que faziam parte da frota de Antonio Parravano foram leiloados pelo governo americano. O Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider, desde aí propriedade de Javier Valesquez da Cidade do México, competiu em mais algumas corridas nos primeiros anos da década de 60. Desde essa altura mudou de proprietário algumas vezes ao longo das últimas décadas e as aparições mais recentes deste automóvel foram feitas em eventos vintage.
 
Apresenta-se a leilão em bom estado de funcionamento e com o certificado da Ferrari Classiche, que atesta que o 0448 MD mantém o seu motor, caixa de velocidades e chassis originais. Será oferecido em leilão este Sábado pela RM Sotheby’s, em Villa Erba, naquele que é o leilão oficial do prestigiado Concorso d’Eleganza Villa D’Este.
